Puma has appointed Gerwin Willemsen as the new Country Manager for the Benelux.

He will succeed Bas van den Bemt on March 1st, the sports goods manufacturer from Herzogenaurach announced on Wednesday. After nine years in this position, Van den Bemt is taking on a new role at Puma and is taking on the role of Head of Strategic Account Foot Locker EU in the international team.

As Country Manager, Willemsen is responsible for all strategic sales and marketing activities as well as for all operational activities in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. He has more than 15 years of experience in the sporting goods and fast moving consumer goods sectors. He previously worked for Puma rival Adidas in the Benelux countries, most recently as sales director for digital wholesale.

“Puma’s results in the Benelux have been very good in recent years. This is partly due to close cooperation with sports retailers and a strong Puma team in the Benelux led by Bas van den Bemt,” said Willemsen.
