The German sporting goods provider Puma SE is expanding its board. On Thursday, the company announced the appointment of Andreas Hubert as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The 49-year-old will take over the newly created position on September 1st.
With Hubert’s entry, the group board of four to five members increases. In his future role as a COO, according to the company, he assumes responsibility for “global procurement, including sustainability and product development, as well as IT and logistics”.
This redistributed the areas of responsibility on the board. “So far, the Chief Product Officer was responsible for procurement, the CFO for IT and the CEO for logistics,” explained the company. With the new regulation, “the responsibilities within the management team and the organization would now be better coordinated”.
Hubert worked for Adidas for twenty years
Hubert comes from the rival Adidas, in which he had worked for twenty years and held various management positions. Most recently, he was there as a Chief Information Officer “for more than four years for the technology strategy that was responsible for the company for the technology strategy for more than four years,” explained Puma.
Puma CEO Arthur Hoeld, who can look back on a long-term past at Adidas, explained the personnel decision. “I am very happy to welcome Andreas as a new Chief Operating Officer at Puma,” he said in a statement. “With his extensive experience in the areas of IT, procurement and supply chain management, he brings the perfect combination of strategic understanding and operational expertise. His well -founded knowledge of our industry and his expertise will make a decisive contribution to optimizing the worldwide processes of Puma and strengthening the digital transformation of our supply chain, while the next growth phase for puma begins.”
