The first album from Pulp has been released in June for 24 years – now the second single of the upcoming record is released with “Got to Have Love”.

Self -talk about love

With the new song, front man Jarvis Cocker has probably learned to deal better with the feeling of love. “Love is a word that I couldn’t say until I was 40,” he explains according to the press release. “I listened to love songs all the time, but I couldn’t use the word in real life. In the text of this song, I talk to myself about this matter, I talk to myself. Now I have learned to pronounce it without taking a face.”

In the right music video, the song is accompanied by recordings of a documentary over the Wigan Casino Nachtclub in Manchester.

How did the new album from Pulp come about?

At the emergence of the album “More”, which was released on June 6th, Jarvis Cocker already told: “Well when we toured again in 2023, during the soundchecks we tried a new song called ‘The Hymn of the North’ before we played it at the end of the second evening in the Sheffield Arena. Songs together.

The music for one of the pieces was written by Richard Hawley and another comes from Jason Buckle. The Eno Family also sings the backing vocals on one of the songs. The string arrangements on some tracks were written by Richard Jones and recorded by Elysian Collective. “More” is also dedicated to the Pulp bassist Steve Macke Mackey, who died in 2023.
