Very concrete threat
On September 22, 2022, Van Quickenborne was told by the federal public prosecutor’s office that there was a “very concrete threat” against his person. An extra police patrol had to guard his villa in Kortrijk. Near his home, the police found a car with weapons, zip ties and several bottles of gasoline. The then minister and his family were transferred to a safe house.
The police soon arrested four Dutch suspects, who were probably plotting an attempted kidnapping of Van Quickenborne. Two more arrests followed later.
