PSV without Noa Lang in Champions League: coach Bosz puts pressure on Sevilla

PSV has to play against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday without Noa Lang. The winger has suffered a setback in his recovery after a hamstring injury. A victory on Wednesday evening in and against Sevilla could mean hibernation in the Champions League for PSV. Yet coach Peter Bosz does not want to speak of pressure. “It lies with Sevilla, which is last in the group.”

“Sevilla must win and we want to win. But we will do everything we can to win, because I don’t want it to come down to the last game against Arsenal.”

PSV can qualify for the next round on Wednesday if it comes out on top. And then Arsenal must beat the French Lens.

Things have not been going well for the Spaniards in recent weeks after a series of bad results. The trainer is under a lot of pressure and that can work to PSV’s advantage, coach Peter Bosz knows. “Anyone who has been in this business for a while knows the situation of Seville. As soon as you come under pressure as a team and especially as a trainer, it does something to you. We want to benefit from that.”

“I think the crowd here puts more pressure on Sevilla than on us.”

At PSV, trendsetter Noa Lang will not be there on Wednesday. The winger returned from injury on Saturday but has suffered a setback. It is still unclear whether he is fit enough for the top match against Feyenoord on Sunday.

Because Lang is not there, Bosz was able to say a day before the European showdown that Hirving Lozano will start. The Mexican is looking forward to Wednesday’s match. “It is a beautiful poster. These are the matches for which you became a footballer. Or should we hibernate? I don’t want to have to call it that, but we can take a big step.”

It is clear that PSV wants to take the pressure off Sevilla. Because Bosz doesn’t want to know anything about a possible witch’s cauldron. “We have played at Rangers, Arsenal and Lens this season. Then you’re used to something. I think it actually brings a lot more pressure for Sevilla. They have to show it tomorrow in front of their own audience.”
