The men of PSV became Dutch champions for the second time in a row on Sunday after a memorable last round in the Eredivisie. Visiting Sparta Rotterdam, the club from Eindhoven won 3-1. Ajax won at home against FC Twente with 1-0 and ends with one point behind in second place.

Both clubs still had a chance to win the title prior to the last rounds. After the slump of PSV after the winter break, Ajax took the lead for a while, but in recent weeks the champion stress struck: Ajax achieved only two points in four games, while PSV continued to win.

On Wednesday, Ajax lost its lead position at the very last moment, after an equalizer of FC Groningen in the 99th minute. PSV won 3-2 visiting Feyenoord and was at the top again.

This Sunday, both Ajax and PSV had to win to keep a chance at the championship. In addition, it was true for Ajax that it could only be a champion if PSV did not beat Sparta.
