PSV has the first point in the main tournament of the Champions League. The team of trainer Peter Bosz played a draw in Germany at Bayer Leverkusen: 1-1. Ismael Saibari saved a point for PSV in the 72nd minute, which shortly before capture Jerdy Schouten saw the error go wrong at the opening goal of Leverkusen.

Attacking midfielder Guus Til was forced to start as a striker at PSV. In addition to the longer injured Alassane Pléa and Myron Boadu, trainer Peter Bosz did not have Ricardo Pepi at your disposal. The American ran a slight strain in his thigh on Saturday in the competition duel at Excelsior (1-2).

Ivan Perisic already seemed to open the score in the fifth minute by heading in the ball from a good cross from the right winger Dennis Man. Perisic, however, was just offside.

It took a while before Leverkusen got a grip on the game. Captain Alejandro Grimaldo hit the post from a difficult angle in the eleventh minute. Former Az Ernest Poku got a chance after fifteen minutes of playing when he played the ball through the legs of Mauro Júnior. His shot on goal was then much too soft.

Biggest opportunities

Also in the remainder of the first half were the biggest opportunities for the home team. Defender Edmond Tapsoba just headed wide and Malik Tillman, still active for PSV last season, came across Kovar Keeper. PSV defender Yarek Gasiorowski also prevented a goal by processing the ball from a free kick from Leverkusen with his head into a corner. PSV occasionally also came out dangerous, but the end pass was often just not good.

After the break, PSV was able to compete with the current number 6 in Germany and played with a little more guts and daring. Saibari took over the role of Til as the most advanced player more often.

Bayer Leverkusen took the lead in the 65th minute. Schouten went wrong by playing the ball back in his own penalty area in a very short distance on Armando Obispo, which was surrounded by a few players from Leverkusen. Obispo lost the ball and saw Christian Kofane benefited: 1-0.

PSV quickly hit back. After good preparatory work by Til, Saibari placed the ball beautifully in the far corner (1-1) in the 72nd minute. Leverkusen had a big chance in injury time. Kovar saved on a shot from close by from Grimaldo.
