PSV player Madueke with an ankle injury out for months

PSV will not be able to have Noni Madueke at their disposal in the coming months. The 20-year-old attacker suffered a serious ankle injury during training. PSV thinks that Madueke will not play the first half of the season, which this time runs until mid-November due to the World Cup in Qatar.

Madueke injured himself in a collision with a teammate during training. For the Briton, his long rehabilitation period means another setback. Madueke was regularly sidelined last season, often with muscle injuries. Partly because of this, he only made eighteen appearances in the Eredivisie, eleven of which as a basic player.

PSV broke Madueke’s contract a year ago. The fast winger is still under contract with the Eindhoven team until the summer of 2025. PSV extended his contract because, after a strong 2020/2021 season, he was in the interest of several clubs. He scored seven goals in 24 league games.

Second setback

Madueke would normally have been a basic player in Saturday’s match for the Johan Cruijff Scale against Ajax. The loss of the attacker is a second setback for trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij, who also misses Yorbe Vertessen in the front line. The Belgian had himself operated on for appendicitis and will not be deployable in the coming weeks.

Three days after the meeting with Ajax, PSV awaits the away match against AS Monaco in the third preliminary round of the Champions League.
