PSV has not only made a sporting impression this season, the pitch in the Philips Stadium is also in the best condition, according to the Eredivisie captains. This is reported by the players’ union VVCS, which has the fields in professional football assessed annually.
The PSV turf received an average score of 4.53 out of 5 last season. This means that the Eindhoven club remains ahead of Feyenoord. De Kuip was named the best field in the Netherlands for eleven years in a row, but now has to settle for second place. The field in Rotterdam received a rating of 4.35.
Ajax is third on the list. The turf in the Johan Cruijff ArenA received an average score of 4.29 from the captains.
The assessment is given weekly by the captains of the away clubs in the Eredivisie and Kitchen Champion Division. After each round of play, they send a message to VVCS chairman Evgeniy Levchenko with a number from 1 to 5. 1 stands for poor and 5 for a top field.
Telstar is at the bottom of the rankings, with an average score of 2.76. AZ also scores remarkably low. The field in Alkmaar received a 3.29, which puts it sixteenth out of eighteen Eredivisie clubs.
