PSV attacker Madueke out for months due to serious ankle injury

20-year-old Noni Madueke has been out for months due to a serious ankle injury. He dropped out during training after a collision with a teammate. PSV thinks that Madueke will not play the first half of the season, which runs until mid-November this year because of the World Cup in Qatar.

For the Briton, his long rehabilitation period means another setback. Madueke was regularly sidelined last season, often with muscle injuries. Partly because of this, he only made eighteen appearances in the Eredivisie, eleven of which as a basic player.

PSV broke Madueke’s contract a year ago. The fast winger is still under contract with the red and white until the summer of 2025. PSV extended his contract because, after a strong 2020/2021 season, he was in the interest of several clubs. He scored seven goals in 24 league games.

Basic player
Madueke would normally have been a basic player in Saturday’s match for the Johan Cruijff Scale against Ajax. The loss of the attacker is a second setback for trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij, who also misses Yorbe Vertessen in the front line. The Belgian had himself operated on for appendicitis and will not be deployable in the coming weeks.

Three days after the meeting with Ajax, PSV awaits the away match against AS Monaco in the third preliminary round of the Champions League.
