The story begins in Ireland in 1844. Liam O’Conner (Lachlan Quarmby), a young thief with a generous heart but with a questionable reputation, he falls in love with Cora McLeod (Katie Stevens), the daughter of a landowner belonging to a much higher social class than his.
Their love is hindered by the conventions of the time and the expectations of her family, who would like her married to Finn Walsh (Evan Roderick), a respectable man and considered the most suitable companion for her. Providence Falls delves into the concept of soul mates and free will with an original and intelligent touch. The magical realism component is nothing new for the American channel’s productions but in this series it becomes even more captivating. Giving viewers more time to understand and appreciate the complicated narrative as the series is structured on two very different eras: Ireland in 1844 and the present.
Those who love stories that mix romance, supernatural and mystery will not be disappointednet of some excess in the screenplayand the delicate and reassuring tone represents one of the strong points of the production. Fans of timeless love stories will therefore find many elements capable of conquering them.
Overall it is a pleasant and romantic miniseries, ideal for those looking for a light vision but full of feeling. Also good chemistry between the two lead actors Katie Stevens and Lachlan Quarmby which show good understanding, making credible, a love destined to defy time.
