The former Bari and Livorno striker is fighting a tumor: “It would be easy to dream of recovery but I would settle for less”
“A difficult year is coming to an end which has left me with a very tough challenge. Tonight will be a different New Year than ever, at home with my partner Daniela, a little sore, with an uncertain future but which I will try to face to the best of my physical and psychological ability.”
This is the message via Instagram from Igor Protti, a former striker from Bari and Livorno who announced last July that he was struggling with cancer. “What to ask of 2026? It would be easy to dream of recovery but I would be happy not to have any more bad news. That’s why tonight, even without big celebrations, I thank life for still being there. Happy New Year to everyone because it gives you health and a lot of serenity.”
