Protest against the possible arrival of giant wind turbines in Ypres

The wind turbines have a peak height of 200 meters and would be placed a few hundred meters from residential areas. Local residents of districts and neighborhoods in the area set up a neighborhood platform together with representatives from the affected districts. They say they want to inform people correctly about what awaits them.

“The information provided by Luminus is too much of a good news show that ignores the real problems of cast shadow, long-carrying noise, ground vibrations and disruptive visibility,” said Yves Tanghe of the neighborhood platform.

The local residents emphasize that they are won over by wind energy as a green source of electricity production. “Do not mortgage wind energy by ill-considered placing wind turbines close to our houses,” says local resident Myriam.

The neighborhood platform has provided an information moment on Tuesday 20 December at 8 pm in the VTI of Ypres. Specialists in the field of sound, vibrations and the like will address people’s concerns. The initiators have already engaged a lawyer.
