“Waste ends up in our beaches along different directions. The largest factor is waste that is supplied via inland waterways,” says Tim Corbisier, project coordinator at the Proper Strand Lopers. “Due to the many precipitation in 2024, the flow of the rivers rose, so that waste ended up in the sea faster and in larger quantities.”
More waste is also rinse due to the warming of the oceans, storms and strong winds.
