See Liverpool FC Champion in the stadium from one of the most beautiful places. It is a competition for which it is almost impossible to get tickets. Certainly not in the most beautiful place in the stadium. And yet Jeroen van Belkom from Goirle, together with his 13-year-old son Bobbie, succeeded in being there. You can read how they achieved that in this story.
That story starts in France last summer. “”Last minute We went on vacation with the family, “says Jeroen.” There I met a trauma doctor from Liverpool on the football field. ” They get into conversation. Manchester United of Tottenham Hotspur is still successful. But Liverpool, you just can’t get in between. “
The trauma doctor comes with a special proposal. Together with his father, he has been a season ticket holder of the English club for years. “I want to arrange that for you,” he promises on that sunny football field in France. “The only thing we have to do is keep in touch after the holiday. Then we choose a competition.”

That contact started slowly. “So somewhere in December,” says Jeroen. And how do you choose a competition? “It had to be during my son’s vacation. And so the choice on Liverpool FC – Tottenham Hotspur fell. Without even having the idea that this would be the champion match.”
The Saturday before the competition. Bobbie and Jeroen are already in Liverpool. Jeroen has another dinner with the doctor and his wife. “I asked him if he knew for sure. It is up to you to choose to go, I said.” But the doctor is resolutely: “No, I promised it.”

And so Jeroen and Bobbie end up in Anfield on Sunday, the famous stadium of Liverpool FC. “If you are a football fan and you want to see how football is celebrated and breathing, you have to go to Liverpool.”
The two are in perhaps the best places in the stadium. “On the center line, at the place where the players arrive at the field,” says Jeroen. “You could almost touch them.”
“Bizarre, I never expected this.”
Magical is perhaps the best description that Jeroen can give to it. “You will hear the singing of You’ll Never Walk Alone. But even after the game it was sung, with the players for your profession. Then you don’t know what you are experiencing. “
And then Jeroen thinks back to that one moment at the first meeting on a football field in France. “That this doctor once promised this under a large tree in the shade and his word has fulfilled. That is bizarre. I never expected that.”
