Irene Schouten hopes to win her second gold Olympic medal at the Olympics on Thursday. After the Dutch skater’s victory in the 3 kilometers, she also started the 5 kilometers as the favorite in the National Speed Skating Oval.
Schouten is classified in the sixth and last stage, together with the Italian Francesca Lollobrigida. The 29-year-old rider has the same opponent as during the 3000 meters. Sanne in ‘t Hof, the only other Dutch participant in the 5000 meters, will compete against Russian Natalia Voronina in the third stage. For In ‘t Hof it is her first appearance at the Games.

Snowboarding
Snowboardcrosser Glenn de Blois will also compete in China. He will start qualifying at 4.15 am. De Blois is, next to Melissa Peperkamp, Niek van der Velden and Michelle Dekker, one of the four participating Dutch snowboarders in these Games.
