Another German is going to the Darts World Cup in London. Arno Merk won the Super League final.

Darts professional Arno Merk has qualified for the Darts World Cup in London for the first time. The 33-year-old prevailed in the final of the PDC Europe Super League on Friday. Merk is the eighth confirmed participant from Germany for the annual highlight in Alexandra Palace (December 11th to January 3rd); never before have so many qualified.

In addition to the man from Peine in Lower Saxony, Martin Schindler, Ricardo Pietreczko, Gabriel Clemens, Niko Springer, Lukas Wenig, Max Hopp and Dominik Grüllich also got their ticket to the World Cup, in which 128 instead of 96 players will compete for the first time this year. The previous record was six participants last year.

Merk remained strong in the final in Hildesheim against Daniel Klose 8:6. On the way there he had, among others, thrown Yorick Hofkens and Jarod Becker out of the tournament. The Super League is a World Cup qualifying tournament for players from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg who do not have a tour card. The 20 best players on the Next Gen Tour qualified.

A final qualifying tournament for tour card holders will take place on November 24th, in which the Germans Florian Hempel and Kai Gotthardt can also make it to the English capital.
