Federico Dimarco put the home side 1-0 in the 30th minute. The Italian tapped Nicolò Barella’s cross in one go low in the left corner. Paulo Dybala took care of the equalizer before half-time. The Argentinian scored nicely on a pass from Leonardo Spinazzola.
Chris Smalling was able to head in freely in the second half and bring the visitors to 2-1. Inter coach Simone Inzaghi made four more changes and took Dumfries to the side, among others, but Roma did not relinquish the victory. Smalling also made a save well into injury time on a bet by Robin Gosens.
