After the dismissal of José Mourinho, Fenerbahçe Istanbul is looking for a new trainer. To do this, they apparently also deal with the Bundesliga.
At the Turkish top club Fenerbahçe Istanbul, the search for a new trainer is running. According to the matching reports of Turkish media, the “Bild” newspaper and the “kicker”, Sebastian Hoeneß from VfB Stuttgart is also on the list of possible candidates.
In addition to Hoeneß, Fenerbahçe should also deal with other names. According to reports, this includes the former Dortmund coach Nuri Şahin and Edin Terzić and the former Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt. Background of the coaching search: Star coach José Mourinho was released last week after the end of the champions League qualification.
Hoeneß had only extended his contract at VfB Stuttgart in the long term until 2028 in March. An exit clause is not part of the agreement. Despite his recently open interference on the club’s transfer policy – especially after the sale of Nick Woltemade for 90 million euros – an early farewell is unlikely.
On the edge of the 6: 2 (3: 1) victory of the Swabians in the test game at SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, Hoeneß said at the Sky microphone that a change was “no topic” for him at all. “That didn’t happen to me.”
VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth also commented on the critical statements of the trainer. When asked about the mood, he said that he did not feel that he had to “extinguish fire”. “Nobody thinks about that at all,” said the official.
