Private star journalist Edwin Bredius still cannot believe that he managed to track down André Hazes Jr. and Monique Westenberg in Florida. “I will never forget that feeling.”
De Privé kept things busy last week by putting André Hazes Jr. and Monique Westenberg on the cover. The weekly managed to track them down while on vacation in Florida and photograph them while they were quite intimate with each other by the pool of their resort.
How was André found?
The rumors that Yvonne Coldeweijer has thrown into the world about a love reunion between André and Monique seem to have been confirmed with the photos of Privé. Rumors soon arose: did André and Monique de Privé call themselves? Or did Monique tip the magazine on her own behind André’s back?
Private boss Evert Sankrediets denies it all. His star reporter Edwin Bredius, who traveled to America with paparazzo Wesley de Wit, explains this week in the latest Privé how he exactly tracked down André and Monique.

Edwin didn’t like the silence around André and Monique during their American tour and that’s why he wanted to go after it. He recalled that André once revealed during an interview what his favorite place in Florida is: Celebration. “Was this clue strong enough to start looking? The editor-in-chief (Evert, ed.) thought so,” says Edwin.
And so Edwin traveled with the paparazzo to the other side of the ocean. “A day before that, out of the blue, I changed hotels. On reflection, my first choice was too far from the center [van Celebration] which is why I rebooked to the Meliá Celebration Orlando Hotel.”
‘Never forget it’
After a fruitless morning of searching in the town of Celebration, Edwin and paparazzo Wesley returned weary to this mid-range Meliá hotel. “When I look at the pool from the room, I see a few empty beds where we can lie down for a while. But then I see something else,” he says.
The Private Journalist: “My mouth must have dropped wide when I was two seconds later, in that same swimming pool… I say, ‘Wes! There you have that Hazes!’ We will never forget that feeling and that moment. The adrenaline suddenly starts flowing. We’ve barely started our search and it turns out that the family is in the same hotel as us!”
Very average
Edwin was all the more surprised because the hotel is rather average. Really every Jut and Jul can afford it. “Not in a villa at all, not in a luxurious five-star resort like the Four Seasons, but in a just average holiday hotel where no Dutch people actually come! The first photos were taken within 45 minutes.”
By the way, it was only a haircut that the Privé duo had never spotted André and Monique. They checked out again the next day. “So we haven’t spoken to them.”
