Priority for status holders is not fair | Commentary

The problems in the asylum reception are immense. There is no place to accommodate new applicants in the application center in Ter Apel. The entire system comes to a standstill because there is hardly any more flow in the asylum system† Normally, an asylum seeker goes to a regular asylum seekers’ center after his application. If someone has no right to stay here, he or she must leave. When someone does get a residence permit, it flows on to a regular home. But that’s where it goes wrong. Eviction of people who are not allowed to stay here is not successful. And it is not possible to place status holders in a house, because there is a huge housing shortage.
