Chelsea signs Sterling for 55 million euros

The Chelsea confirmed this Wednesday the signing of Raheem Sterling, for which they have paid 47.5 million pounds (about 55 million euros) to the Manchester City.

The confirmation of the signing comes after this morning Sterling himself published a letter saying goodbye to City, the club he has been at since they signed him from Liverpool in 2015 for 57 million euros.

With the Celestes, Sterling played 339 games in which he scored 131 goals. He won four Premier Leagues and reached the Champions League final in 2021, losing to Chelsea.

This is the first big signing since the departure of Roman Abramovich and the billionaire’s arrival at the club Todd Boehley.

Sterling’s signing comes in the middle of Chelsea’s preseason, which is on American soil preparing to attack next season.

“London is my home”

“I’ve achieved a lot in my career, but I still have a long way to go, and I hope to do it in a Chelsea shirt and under Thomas Tuchel,” said Sterling, who has also made 77 appearances for England.

“London is my home,” added Sterling, who was born just a few meters from the current Wembley Stadium. “It’s where it all started and it’s amazing that I now have the opportunity to play in front of my friends every week at Stamford Bridge.”
