Princess Diana’s Ford Escort has been sold at auction for more than 850,000 pounds, or more than one million euros, according to the New York Post.

The car was sold at the Silverstone auction at the end of a fierce bidding competition. The buyer offered £650,000 for the car, but the price eventually dropped to £851,070 due to an extra commission. The car was expected to sell for over £100,000.

Diana owned the car between 1985 and 1988. According to the magazine, the car was typically white, but it was customized for the princess in black at the request of the court.

During those years, Diana was seen driving the car around Chelsea and Kensington before returning it to Ford. About 10,000 kilometers had been accumulated on the car.
