Prince Andrew is not the most welcome guest at the royal family’s Christmas table. However, he is traditionally invited.
Palace insiders say it is hoped Andrew will keep a low profile over Christmas and withdraw from the public eye, rather than have his brother King Charles make the decision for him.
The royal family’s Christmas expenses include Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace and a walk to church on Christmas Day. It is feared that Andrew’s presence will lead attention to the wrong tracks.
Andrew, who has bounced around from one heart to the other, found himself in the middle of a scandal again last week, when The Times magazine wrote that the prince has been in contact with a suspected spy.
It is a Chinese businessman who has visited Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, among others, at the invitation of the prince.
Andrew was quick to comment that he has stopped all contact with the man in question. According to Andrew, they also never discussed anything sensitive.
The abbreviation H6 has been used for the man alleged to be a spy. Britain denied the man entry to the country last year.
