Prime Minister Schoof will participate in the G20 Leaders Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa on November 22 and 23, 2025. At this G20 summit, which the Netherlands is attending at the invitation of the current G20 chairman South Africa, the world’s largest economies will discuss matters such as financial stability, economic growth and development.
The focus of the South African presidency includes debt sustainability for low-income countries, financing for sustainable energy transition and food security. Minister of Finance Heinen is also present at the G20 on behalf of the Netherlands these days.
On November 24, the Prime Minister will travel to Luanda, Angola to participate in a summit of the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU). This meeting focuses on relations between the two continents and strengthening the EU-AU partnership, including in the field of security and in tackling organized crime and irregular migration.
On the margins of the G20 Leaders Summit and the AU-EU meeting, Prime Minister Schoof has several bilateral meetings with other heads of government. These concern, among other things, international security and further improving economic cooperation.
The Prime Minister will then visit Suriname, where, at the invitation of President Geerlings-Simons, he will attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Suriname on November 25. The Prime Minister also has a bilateral meeting with President Geerlings-Simons and makes a number of working visits, including to an agricultural company.
