Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s favorite restaurant is bankrupt (and that is doubly sad) Home

A phenomenon in The Hague and one of Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s favorite restaurants, Indonesian restaurant Soeboer, was declared bankrupt by the judge this week. It is doubly sad for the company because a few weeks ago one of the owners, Ragner Flink, suddenly passed away.

The well-known Indonesian restaurant was already in heavy weather last year due to corona and lockdowns, but after that owners Ragner and Nathalie Flink had picked up the thread again.

One of the regular customers was Mark Rutte, he once said that Soeboer was his favorite restaurant. He used to be there regularly, but that is now coming to an end. The restaurant was declared bankrupt by a judge this week, just weeks after the owner’s death.

Nightmare

Ragner Flink passed away on Wednesday, September 28 at the age of 59. “I’m numb and my tears are gone,” his wife Nathalie wrote on social media. “I was hoping this was all going to be one big nightmare.” The couple had just returned from Belgium and while they were lying on the couch together, Ragner suddenly became short of breath and he pressed his hand to his chest.

Ragner was struggling with a muscle disease. ‘Your health deteriorated because of your muscular dystrophy. You were in so much pain, every day was a struggle from getting up to walking and getting back into bed. You held on for me and our kids, but I knew you were up. After all the stress you couldn’t do it anymore. And your heart couldn’t take anymore either. Your heart stopped beating a day before our wedding.’

A month after Ragner’s death, the well-known business was declared bankrupt. The case is therefore definitively closed and can no longer be reached via the website.
