The Ghent Festival of Flanders has canceled a concert by the Münchner Philharmoniker and its Israeli conductor. German politics and culture world are angry. Our Prime Minister, Bart De Wever (N-VA), also calls the cancellation “irresponsible and brash”. Party mate and provincial councilor André Gantman even demands the resignation of Flemish Minister for Culture Caroline Gennez (Vooruit). In the meantime, it became known that the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées from Paris will take over the conscious concert on 16 September. Journalist and writer Piet de Loof files a complaint with Unia against the directors of Festival of Flanders for discrimination.
