Heavy losses for chip companies
The AEX closed 0.9 percent lower on Friday at 926.7 points. Suppliers to the chip sector were affected by the recent sharply deteriorating sentiment around AI companies. ASML, Besi and ASMI lost 6.3, 5.6 and 4.6 percent respectively. ArcellorMittal fell 2.6 percent after news that global steel production fell sharply in October. Data company Relx finished at the top with a gain of 2.7 percent. Heineken climbed 2.5 percent. Food manufacturer Unilever rose 2.4 percent. Mid-cap Air France KLM flew up 5.6 percent.
