After Jomaine Consbruch from SpVgg Greuther Fürth, second division relegated Fortuna Düsseldorf has presented the next new signing. Jorrit Hendrix is moving from Preußen Münster to the Rhine on a free transfer and will receive a contract until 2028. The 31-year-old midfielder already played for Fortuna in the 2022/23 season.

“Jorrit has the qualities we were looking for. That’s why we’re very pleased that we were able to win him for Fortuna,” said sports director Samir Arabi. “With his experience and personality, he will be an important building block in our team and give our game additional stability. He also knows the club and the environment from his first time in Düsseldorf. During the discussions, we immediately sensed that Jorrit is very keen on the task.”

Hendrix moved to Münster in 2024 and therefore knows Fortuna coach Alexander Ende, under whom he played 25 times. Last season he was captain of second division relegated Preußen Münster and was one of the top performers. In 31 games he scored goals and provided three assists. He made 21 appearances for Fortuna in 2022/23 before moving to Western Sydney in Australia.

Hendrix commented on his return: “The whole time I had the feeling that I hadn’t achieved what I had set out to do with Fortuna. That’s exactly what drives me now and I’m even more pleased to be here again. I want to do my part to get the club back to where it belongs.”
