Pretty Ballerinas is a traditional family business with more than 100 years of experience in shoe manufacturing. The company created its first pair of ballet flats by hand in a small village in Menorca over a century ago. Since then, the manufacturer has always succeeded in finding the perfect mix of extraordinary materials, comfort and elegant, playful design. Even today, Pretty Ballerinas is an independent and family-run brand that works in harmony with nature and is proud of its long-standing heritage.

origins

Pretty Ballerinas was founded in 1918 in a small village on the island of Menorca. The Mascaro family began making ballet flats with the help of local artisans. The designs attracted attention because they not only offered a wide range of classic and unusual models, colors and materials, but also excellent quality.

evolution

In the 50’s the workshop started making high quality designer shoes and in the 80’s they opened several shops under the name “Jamie Mascaro”. In the ’90s, Lina and Ursula Mascaro took the brand to new heights and made it known around the world.

The brand has been around since 1918, but it wasn’t until 2005 that it became what it is today. In 2007 the first store was opened in London. Many more followed over the years including New York, Barcelona, Dubai, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Sydney and Paris (65th branch opened). The Pretty Ballerina shoes, which have the same design as ballet slippers, became an it shoe and were seen on Kate Moss and Angelina Jolie. The brand has also named its classics after icons, muses of film, dance and music. Choices are Rosario, Ella, Shirley, Joanna, Marilyn, and Audrey.

Current

Pretty Ballerinas still makes their shoes in the same village on the same island and today employs over 60 artisans. The brand offers a wide range of shoes, bags and accessories, as well as a bridal line and a collection for little girls. The products are available online and in a total of 77 stores in 28 countries.
