Antalyaspor, one of the Trendyol Super League teams, appointed Emre Belözoğlu as the technical director. After the heavy 5-0 defeat against Trabzonspor, the red-white team parted ways with Alex de Souza and signed a 1.5-year contract with Emre Belözoğlu as the new coach.
Antalyaspor President Sinan Boztepe stated in his statement on the subject that they parted ways with Alex de Souza by mutual agreement and that they thanked the Brazilian coach for his contributions. Boztepe said, “We parted ways by mutual agreement with Alex de Souza, with whom we started the season and had great hopes. He did not request anything from us other than his 6-month salary. We thank him for his contributions.”
Stating that they decided on Emre Belözoğlu as a result of the evaluations for the new coach position, Boztepe said, “As of today, we have reached an agreement with Emre Belözoğlu, who has achieved great success in Europe and in our country as a football player for years. We have reached an agreement with him for 1.5 years. We have high expectations from him and we are with our new coach.” “We have endless belief that we will achieve good success, good luck to both our club and Antalya,” he said.
Antalyaspor will play Göztepe away for the first time under the management of Belözoğlu.
