“In March or April we will hear the verdict of the European Court. I think the clubs will benefit from it,” Laporta said in conversation with radio station Cadena SER. Of the clubs that came out with the plans just under two years ago, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus are still left. The English clubs withdrew, mainly because of angry reactions from their supporters.

As far as Laporta is concerned, the Super League will start without English clubs. “The Super League will be a competition that can rival the Premier League,” said the chairman. “I suspect that the English teams will not participate initially, but that we will merge later.”
