Premier League: Fernandinho says goodbye to Manchester City

Captain Fernandinho said goodbye to Manchester City and the fans after nine years with emotional words.

“Today is the last day of my contract at Manchester City, I did my best and I can say I would do it again”, the 37-year-old wrote on social media. “The story goes on. And now, after nine years of playing, I will be a Citizen fan thirsting for more titles and wins.”according to Fernandinho.

Return to Paranaense

The former Brazilian international’s contract with the Citizens expires, Fernandinho returns to his homeland to his former club Athletico Paranaense. Fernandinho said he wanted to play regularly.

The midfielder joined Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine from Paranaense in 2005 before joining Manchester City in the Premier League in 2013. He won the championship five times and the League Cup six times with the team.

By moving to City, he made the best choice of his life. “I hope that one day, when you remember me, you will feel the same way I feel about you now as I write”according to Fernandinho.
