The sports world doesn’t stand still during the holidays. You shouldn’t miss these sports highlights even during your contemplative time.
Have the presents all been unwrapped, the food eaten and all the Christmas carols sung? Anyone who gets bored at and around Christmas will find entertainment in the world of sports. From football to darts to ski jumping, there are still a few highlights on the program around the turn of the year. t-online explains what you definitely shouldn’t miss.
Although the ball doesn’t roll in Europe on December 24th, football fans still don’t have to do without their favorite sport. Because the Africa Cup also offers some exciting games on Christmas Eve. Algeria will play against Sudan at 4 p.m. with Bundesliga stars Ramy Bensebaini (BVB), Mohamed Amoura (Wolfsburg), Farès Chaïbi (Frankfurt) and Ibrahim Maza (Leverkusen). The game between German World Cup opponents Ivory Coast and Mozambique follows at 6:30 p.m.
Anyone who gets a taste for it can look forward to more games on Boxing Day (December 26th). Then, among others, Egypt and superstar Mohamed Salah will face South Africa at 4 p.m. and Morocco will play against Mali with Bundesliga players Eliesse Ben Seghir (Leverkusen) and Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart) at 9 p.m.
On December 27th, Bayern star Nicolas Jackson will also attack with Senegal. He faces the Democratic Republic of Congo at 4 p.m. On December 28th, Algeria will face Burkina Faso again (6.30 p.m.) and Ivory Coast will face Cameroon (9 p.m.). On December 29th, Egypt will play Angola (5 p.m.) and Morocco will face Zambia (8 p.m.). On September 30th, Senegal will play Benin at 8 p.m. and on New Year’s Eve, Algeria will face Equatorial Guinea at 5 p.m. and Ivory Coast will face Gabon at 8 p.m.
Things really get going on the day after the holidays. There are seven games on the program on December 27th. Among others in action are champions Liverpool around DFB star Florian Wirtz (against Wolverhampton), league leaders Arsenal (against Brighton) and former champions Manchester City (in Nottingham). There are two more games on the schedule on Sunday, December 28th with Sunderland against Leeds and Crystal Palace against Tottenham.
