Pozzovivo: “Too many accidents, I dream about them at night. The Giro at 40 is my new life”

A career marked by injuries and falls and the new challenge with Israel: “I would like to win again at Lake Laceno”

The grandfather of cycling continues to amaze. At 40, Domenico Pozzovivo overcame his fractures (“after the twentieth I stopped counting them”), he lived with two scary accidents – in the 2015 Giro and in 2019 hit by a car during a training session in Calabria – and he never gave up even when this winter he was left without a team so much that “I even thought I had to quit”. Until the turning point: the one-year contract with Israel Premier Tech arrived at the beginning of March. Yesterday, in the third stage of the Coppi&Bartali International Week with arrival in Forlì, the second place came at the end of a three-man breakaway.
