Because the warm weather of today is pushed aside by a cold front, there is a chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon in our province. Weather Institute KNMI has issued Yellow Code for Drenthe and Groningen.
This warns the chance of sturdy thunderstorms that can be accompanied by hail and gusts of wind up to sixty kilometers per hour.
RTV Drenthe Weerman Gert Voerman: “First it is still sunny and warm, then the clouds will increase and showers will arise. The more north, the greater the chance of a shower. Locally there can be thunderstorms and then in some places with hail and strong wind. That warning is for this. Tonight and tonight it will be calm again.”
According to the KNMI, the showers can be a problem for outdoor activities and traffic. This way, road users are advised to drive slower during the showers and to keep it more distance. Outdoor activities in the forest are not recommended.
Code Geel is in force from 3 p.m. this afternoon until 7 p.m. tonight. The showers are expected to have moved away to the north.
