According to the spokesperson, the fences may already be placed on Monday evening at AZ win. The municipality calls on supporters not to take fireworks with you in the event of a possible ceremony. “That is forbidden to stop at this time of the year, but certainly also with a view to the animals there,” says the spokesperson.
Jeroen van Wetten of the Alkmaar Bird Work Group does not find the compromise with the municipality of Alkmaar optimal. “It remains a bit crazy in such an area. Yet it is better than they first planned,” says Van Wetten. “The area that is now being shielded is ten times as large than the first. The piece where the spoonbills and blue herons are now shielded.”
Historical place for the ceremony
The trot track in Alkmaar as a location for a possible ceremony from AZ was chosen because the history of the club began in this area. According to the Vogelwerkgroep, the situation in the Stadspark has changed in the last twelve years due to the arrival of a colony of blue herons and spoonbills. The Vogelwerkgroep therefore wondered why a possible ceremony could not go next to the AZ stadium.
The Vogelwerkgroep hopes that a possible ceremony from AZ on the trotbaan is one -off. “I hope that they (Red, the municipality) think better in the future, before they come up with this kind of fringe,” says Van Wetten. On Monday it becomes clear whether AZ will win the cup in Rotterdam, and whether the spoonbills and blue herons in the Stadspark will have to deal with partying supporters.
