Portuguese world star Cristiano Ronaldo signs for 2.5 years with Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a contract with Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia until mid-2025 and will receive shirt number 7. The Portuguese world star was without a club for more than a month, but has now found an employer again

Reportedly, Ronaldo will earn 200 million euros a year. That is not only for his football skills, but it also includes some commercial obligations.

Break with Manchester United

The 37-year-old attacker, five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, forced a break at Manchester United in November. After a particularly critical interview from Ronaldo, Manchester United had the top earner’s contract terminated. The Portuguese said in the TV program Piers Morgan Uncensored among other things that he feels betrayed by the English club and that trainer Erik ten Hag wanted to provoke him. Ronaldo got little playing time from the new Dutch trainer in the first months of this season.

All-time top goalscorer in the Champions League

The Portuguese broke through in his own country about twenty years ago at Sporting Portugal and moved to Manchester United in 2003. Six years and many trophies later, Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid, with which he won the Champions League four times. He is the all-time top scorer of that tournament with 140 goals.

Ronaldo played football for Juventus between 2018 and 2021 and then returned to Manchester. This season, the world star ended up on the bench under Ten Hag, after which Ronaldo forced a departure.

Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr is in second place in the Saudi Arabian competition after ten matches. Well-known players at the club are Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina, Brazilian midfielders Luiz Gustavo and Anderson Talisca and attacker Vincent Aboubakar from Cameroon.
