The VW subsidiary Porsche is taking a large stake in the Red Bull Formula 1 racing team. The deal was made public by antitrust authorities.

It has long been known that Porsche will enter Formula 1. Now it is also clear to what extent the automobile manufacturer, which belongs to the Volkswagen Group, is involved in the premier class. Porsche takes over 50 percent of the Red Bull racing team. This is reported by “Motorsport total”. Entry is therefore scheduled for 2026.

The cooperation has now become public because the companies involved had to report the deal to antitrust authorities in 20 countries outside the EU. In some of these countries, such as Morocco, there is an obligation to publish such applications.

The partnership was supposed to be announced at the Spielberg race in early July, but that had to be postponed. Knowledge of the new engine regulations from 2026 was a basic requirement for Porsche’s entry. However, this had not yet been finally decided by the International Motosport Federation FIA at that point in time.

This is how the news about the impending entry into Porsche reached the public in a roundabout way.
