Petro Poroshenko, as promised, returned from Warsaw to Kiev. Right at the passport control point, Poroshenko’s passport was taken away. The investigator of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine read out the agenda for the court session on choosing a measure of restraint for him.
“You are a detainee,” the investigator turned to Poroshenko and took his passport from him, reports RIA News.
Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada from the party “European Solidarity” surrounded Poroshenko and did not let the law enforcement officers. Poroshenko told journalists covering the return that they were trying to keep him out of the country.
“They are trying to prevent me, a citizen of Ukraine, from entering Ukraine, they took away my passport under the pretext of some kind of control,” he said.
Meanwhile, supporters of Poroshenko gathered near the Pechersk Court, where a meeting was scheduled to choose a preventive measure.
According to TASS there are already more than a hundred people, they have placed several metal barrels, they are hitting them, shouting slogans in support of Poroshenko.
The trial is scheduled for 12:00 Moscow time.
Poroshenko is defendant in cases on high treason, the financing of terrorism and the creation of a terrorist organization. “He faces 15 years in prison. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine during the investigation asks to arrest him with the possibility of posting a bail in the amount of about $ 37 million.
While in Warsaw, Petro Poroshenko said that he was not afraid to return to Ukraine, since there is simply nothing to stop him.
