The police are written to have received several reports from local residents who received a letter in the bus stating that they received a SAIL commemorative coin or a ‘delicatessen package’ as compensation for the inconvenience. They have to scan a QR code and pay 25 euros. But nothing follows after payment. “This is scams,” the police write.
One of the letters states that the package ‘normally sponsors, partners and special guests is given as a gift, but is now made available by the same caterer to those who are sometimes thought of so little’.
“Do not comment on the offer and do not scan the QR code,” the police warn. It is not clear how many people have received the fake letters.
