Police pursuit ends in Peize with service weapons drawn

The police arrested a suspect in Peize last night with service weapons drawn after a wild chase from Groningen. The driver was likely under the influence of drugs during his flight and violated traffic rules several times, police said.

Officers initially wanted to detain the driver because no turn signal was used after exiting a roundabout. After the driver first stopped, he later took off at high speed. In doing so, he flouted traffic rules, police said.

The driver was eventually arrested on the N372 in Peize. This was done in a ‘safe manner’, despite the fact that officers had their service weapon ready.

An investigation must show whether the driver was actually behind the wheel with drugs. He has already lost his car, because it has been returned to the rental company.
