Police more often use pepper spray, electroshock weapons and spit masks: ‘Because people use violence, do not listen or consciously seek confrontation’

The number of incidents in which police officers use force increased again last year. In 2025 there were 25,404 incidents, according to the annual police violence report. In 2024 there were still 23,104. Although the increase appears significant, the police emphasize that violence is still used in less than one percent of all deployments. Last year, officers responded more than 2.6 million times.
