The police for the Gemert, Bakel and Laarbeek region have expressed their frustration about the traffic behavior of motorists on Instagram. In a cynical tone, she asks road users to take rescuers into account by, for example, driving around when a road is blocked with cones and a police car with flashing lights.

The reason for the message was an accident last Thursday on the Bosscheweg in Beek en Donk. The road was closed for the safety of the emergency services, but also for further investigation into the cause of the accident.

“Busy with victim.”

A number of road users found it annoying to have to take a different, longer route. The police understand that, but they cannot grasp the fact that drivers want to enter into a discussion with questions about the deployment of traffic controllers. And the police cannot answer the question of whether and when traffic can pass again at that time: “We are busy with the ambulance personnel with the victim and the further investigation.”

However, rescuers and other road users were put at risk. The police: “Some drivers were lucky that we were busy with the accident itself, so we have not written an official report for driving in the opposite direction and driving over a drift plane. Of course, these drivers were held accountable for their behavior and had to turn around immediately.”

“Thanks for your cooperation.”

The police hope that the message got across with her request on Instagram. She concludes, whether or not against her better judgement, with: “Thank you in advance for your cooperation.”
