The police found 1,045 kilos of fireworks in a parked van in Sint-Michielsgestel. The loading space of the bus was full of boxes, including a large amount of illegal fireworks.
Officers tracked down the van after several reports. Images show that the red bus was parked in the middle of a residential area.
Upon inspection, the loading space turned out to be completely full of fireworks. In total it was 1045 kilos. In addition to decorative fireworks, several boxes of illegal fireworks were also found. That same evening, the police also raided a home looking for fireworks, but nothing was found. The whereabouts of that home have not been disclosed.
Two full buses
The police are still investigating the origin of the fireworks and are calling on witnesses via social media to come forward.
“It is extremely dangerous to store fireworks in this way,” officers write. “We don’t want to think about what could have happened if things had gone wrong.”
The fireworks were removed with special vehicles. The catch was large enough to fill two full vans.
