“On Wednesday, November 12, the VLAS police zone in Kuurne was able to arrest a man suspected of a series of burglaries in the region,” says Thomas Detavernier, spokesperson for the Vlas police zone.
“The burglaries and thefts, mainly in cafes, schools and youth centers, were committed very recently in both Kuurne as Lendelede. It concerns a series of at least 6 facts. Also in Harelbeke there were similar burglaries.”
The suspect was arrested in Kuurne on Wednesday evening.
The West Flanders public prosecutor’s office was informed and requested an investigating judge. On Friday, November 14, the suspect was brought before the investigating judge.
“Further investigation will reveal whether the man is also suspected of recent burglaries or attempted burglaries in the region. The suspect is 47 years old, has Belgian nationality and is already known to the police and the judiciary,” the police spokesperson said.
