plenty of old songs and hits from dad in Ahoy

He would never sing them again: old songs like Leef. Or worse: hits from his dad. Push to the point? André Hazes Jr.’s entire Ahoy setlist is simply full of those records.

André Hazes Jr. announced in a big way in April, live on television with Beau van Erven Dorens, that he will only sing new music. “I thought: I think I’m doing a bit of old-fashioned music and that doesn’t really suit me.” And his biggest hit Live then? “That’s also a song that doesn’t suit me at all. That’s not who I am.”

Fans confused

Wow, who is André anyway? The Hazes fans, who especially like his father’s pub music, were really confused. The result? Ticket sales for his Ahoy concert completely stopped. “I said, guys, you know what it is, I’m a folk singer, but I actually want to be a pop singer and I want to make cool music.”

And that cool André, does he sell anything? No. His tickets are now listed for next to nothing at Holiday Auctions and the worst part? They are not sold out YET. So now André says that everyone who comes by gets a free vibrator. And in a final, somewhat desperate effort, he now has the whole thing set list of his Ahoy concert was thrown online.

Live first

Well, let’s see what we’re all about on that one set list from André. Huh, where are those new cool records from André? All that new music? The very first song on that list is Leef. That song that “doesn’t suit me at all.” That number that is not who he is. How is that possible?

More than a third of that set list consists of songs by his father: A Little Love, Blood Sweat and Tears, they all appear. Wouldn’t it be better to call André’s concert the autumn edition of Holland Zingt Hazes? That’s what it ultimately comes down to and in any case you have that audience that walks around with those Hazes bath slippers from Lidl.

Guy with hits

How does André think everything is going? “If I’m really honest: I think I underestimated it a bit a month ago, yes. Really scary,” he says in one preview from his Videoland soap. “I don’t feel like I’ve shown what I can do. The fact that I have to do it all sober is perhaps the scariest thing.”

André really wants to chart a new course: “I just want to be a f*cking pop artist. Seriously.”

However, the man from his record label, Tony van de Berkt, warns: “We have to go back to that guy with those hits and those shows.”

Marry Mo

All that chatter is very nice, but what is the ultimate stunt to fill up the Ahoy? Yvonne Coldeweijer is sure: “I didn’t want to believe it at first, but now I hear it more often. Word is going around that André Jr. is going to propose to Monique in AHOY. Again? Yawn. Of course, Monique enforced this at the beginning of the relationship.”

And André really does everything he can to improve his image, according to Yvonne. “So we can tolerate him again. It’s a shame that neither of them has the ability to assess that this move will backfire even more. They are not even able to live together and build a normal family life.”

She concludes: “I suddenly see a half-full room in Ahoy bursting into laughter when he gets down on one knee. 😂 Need to see this.”
