The Edmonton Oilers took a big step towards Stanley Cup. The NHL team of the German star player Leon Draisaitl won the third game against the Dallas Stars in the final of the Western Conference with 6: 1 (2: 0, 1: 1, 3: 0).
The Canadian team takes the lead in the Best-of-Seven series for the first time. Evan Bouchard (15th) and Connor McDavid (15th) brought last year’s runner -up with a double strike on course. After the connection goal by Jason Robertson (36th), McDavid was again on hand with his fifth play-off goal (40th), in the final third Zach put Hyman (44./53.). Draisaitl prepared the 6-1 final score with his 15th assist in the playoffs.
Another important factor for victory was Edmonton’s goalkeeper Stuart Skinner with his 33 parades. “You have to find ways to win games in different ways. There have to be dominant nights. There must be nights when your goalkeeper may be better than that of the others”said Oilers captain Connor McDavid after the game. Already in the second game, the goalkeeper born in Edmonton captured with 25 parades.
New edition of the past final series is getting closer
In a possible final, a revenge from the previous year could occur. In 2024, the Oilers narrowly lost the final series against the Florida Panthers (3: 4), a reunion moves closer and closer. Defending champion Florida already leads 3-0 against Carolina Hurricanes in his semi -finals. In a win in the next home game on Wednesday (2 a.m., CET), Edmonton could develop three match balls before the series then moves back to Dallas.
