The government action for the recovery of disadvantaged areas in the urban suburbs through sports has been the theme at the center of the meeting between the Minister of the Interior, Matteo planted and the Minister for Sport and young people, Andrea Abadi, who confirmed “Their joint commitment to offer young opportunities for growth and aggregation through sport, a fundamental element for social well -being and the development of the territories”.

In the meeting it was agreed to process a national plan of interventions, complementary to the Caivano model that will develop with seven new projects, aimed at restoring abandoned areas and unfinished construction sites throughout Italy, with the aim of transforming them into functional dedicated sports centers to young people. The initiative informs a joint note from the two ministries, “aims to promote sport as a tool for inclusion and social cohesion, socialization and prevention of youth discomfort, returning safe and accessible spaces to local communities. Particular attention will also be paid to Environmental and management sustainability of the interventions, through the introduction of energy models and technological solutions that will guarantee the continuity of activities without depending on public funds or extraordinary funding “. The resources will be found through the development and cohesion fund, which will allow to finance targeted and long -term structural interventions, guaranteeing effective planning and transparent management of resources. In the next 30 days, a detailed mapping of abandoned areas on the national territory will be started, identifying the intervention priorities and involving local authorities, sports and private associations interested in collaborating in the management and enhancement of the recovered systems.
