“Planet of the Apes”: New film coming in 2024

The “Planet of the Apes” returns to the screens. As Hollywoodreporter.com reported, the next part with the English title “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” should come to the cinema in 2024. The film is set to continue the storyline of the last Planet of the Apes film trilogy, which ended in 2017’s Planet of the Apes: Survival.

Directed by Wes Ball, best known as the director of the Maze Runner film trilogy. Owen Teague (“It”), Freya Allen (“The Witcher”) and Peter Macon (“The Orville”) have been announced as actors. The film is being produced by 20th Century Studios.

“Planet of the Apes is one of the most iconic and celebrated science fiction franchises in cinematic history, as well as an indelible part of our studio’s history,” said 20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell. “We are privileged to continue the series tradition of imaginative, thought-provoking cinema with ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,’ and we can’t wait to share 2024 Wes’ extraordinary vision for this new new chapter with audiences. “

The films are originally based on the novel The Planet of the Apes (1963) by French author Pierre Boule. It was filmed for the first time in 1968, starring Charlton Heston. The final trilogy of films forms a backstory that differs from the book and previous films. The leader Caesar (Andy Serkis using motion capture) leads the great apes in a revolution against humans. The first part was directed by Rupert Wyatt, the next two by “The Batman” director Matt Reeves.
